Our Mission
The Orange County Japanese American Association (OCJAA ) tries to provide a wide
variety of social services and cultural activities to unite various Japanese
American and Japanese organizations as well as to impact and improve the
life and well-being of the Japanese Americans in Orange County.
The OCJAA
was started in 1986 to achieve the following goals:
1. Increase
recognition of physical, psychological and social needs of Japanese Americans
in Orange County.
2. Start
and increase grass-roots led programs and activities to meet the needs
of Japanese Americans.
3. We
support events such as picnic, sports or cultural exhibitions that will
promote true and better understanding of our culture.
4. We
develop and integrate culturally sensitive standards by working with
other Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Orange County. The OCJAA
provides bilingual/bicultural monthly social service publication, the
Orange Network, which outreaches to those Japanese and Japanese Americans
in the Orange County area who can not access newspapers, radio or television
due to their inablity to understand English. It also promotes small businesses
in the JA Community by offering low advertisement rates.
